Our editor-in-chief Josh Straub will be hosting an accessibility focused roundtable at D.I.C.E. Summit 2023. Josh is among a handful of other speakers that have been announced first. D.I.C.E. Summit is an annual multi-day conference in Las Vegas that is geared towards executives in the gaming industry hosting talks, roundtables, and workshops. The summit is also home to the D.I.C.E. awards. The next edition takes place from February 21st through 23rd 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Josh’s roundtable is titled “Accessibility in Videogames: Past Triumphs, Current Goals, and Future Challenges”. It invites attendees to discuss the future of accessibility, and the inclusion of disabled people in gaming. The roundtable aims to build a better understanding of accessibility by sharing past experiences and new knowledge on the topic.

As D.I.C.E. Summit is a venue for industry leaders and decision makers, many talks understandably focus on business aspects such as company culture and marketing. This year’s edition has hosted opportunities to discuss mental health and diversity and inclusion. It is great to see accessibility getting a literal seat at the table during next year’s edition. We hope accessibility among those other important topics will become a recurring topic for the summit going forward. Many accessibility champions among game developers would benefit a lot from support of those in leadership positions to help them improve the accessibility of their games.
