Inside Unreal broadcasts have started to implement professional captions

Epic Games broadcasts for Inside Unreal have started implementing professional captions.

Inside Unreal is a live-streamed series from Epic Games that teaches developers tips, tricks, and highlights features available in the Unreal Engine. Recently, the team has started to include professional captions as noted by Epic Games’ captioning manager, Coty Craven (Yes, the very person who founded this site!)

The first Inside Unreal broadcast with planned captions took place on April 7, 2022, although ran into technical difficulties. The stream that took place on April 14 however worked a treat. Currently, the streams take place on both Twitch and YouTube, but captions are available only through YouTube.

While timings for saved post-stream videos appear to need adjusting, it’s nice to see captions becoming a more prominent feature across Epic Games’ online presence.

These Inside Unreal broadcasts getting professional captions have lined up well for the release of the new Unreal Engine 5. Developers can expect a new UI, in-editor animation & modeling, enhanced path tracing, and more.

In addition, last year a brand-new, and free, accessibility course became available for Unreal Engine 4, and the course should translate well over to those jumping into the new engine. What’s more, the Unreal Engine YouTube channel also has an incredible number of videos fully captioned.
